What we collect and why
North & South Financial Services Limited collects and holds personal information that is reasonably necessary to understand your circumstances, provide financial advice and related services, arrange and service products, assist with claims, maintain required records, and meet legal and regulatory obligations.
Where information comes from
We generally collect information directly from you. With your authority, or where permitted by law, we may also collect relevant information from joint applicants or family members, insurers, underwriters, product providers, reinsurers, medical professionals, claims administrators, other professional advisers, service providers, government agencies or publicly available sources.
Where Information Privacy Principle 3A applies, we will take reasonable steps to ensure you are informed of the collection as soon as reasonably practicable, unless a statutory exception applies.
Providing, using and disclosing information
Providing information is generally voluntary. However, if you do not provide information we reasonably require, we may be unable to provide suitable advice, obtain insurance terms, arrange or service a product, or assist with a claim.
We may disclose information where reasonably necessary to provide our services, where you authorise it, or where disclosure is permitted or required by law.
Security, overseas processing and retention
We use reasonable physical, technical and organisational safeguards. Information may be stored or processed by cloud and other service providers, including providers located outside New Zealand. We remain responsible for information handled on our behalf and will comply with Information Privacy Principle 12 when making an overseas disclosure.
We retain information only while it is lawfully required, including to meet applicable FMA record-keeping obligations, and securely dispose of it when it is no longer required.
Website forms and claim documents
Contact details you choose to submit through this website are used to respond to your enquiry. When you use the claim-document sending channel, files are transmitted through service providers directly to our nominated mailbox. They are not written to persistent website storage and are not made available for later retrieval from the website.
